Vanarama National League side, Chester have signed goalkeeper, Sam Hornby on a month’s loan from Port Vale.
Following his arrival in the summer at Vale Park under former manager Michael Brown, the 22-year old has struggled, only managing a handful of appearances.
The return of Rob Lainton to training was another factor in the decision to let the keeper go out on loan
Manager Neil Aspin explained his decision: “It’s better for Sam to play some games.
‘To actually have three goalkeepers… I felt that we can’t afford to have three goalkeepers and only one playing.”
Hornby’s last loan spell was at National League North play-off semi-finalists Kidderminster Harriers during the 2016/17 campaign.
His initial loan spell at Chester will run until January 7th 2018.
