Burslem’s only bank, Lloyds Banking Group is to close in April 2018.
They yesterday announced the Burslem branch, on Moorland Road, will close next spring.
Lloyd’s customers will have to travel to Hanley or Tunstall to find their nearest branch.
Julie Dawson, 54, a care worker from Burslem said: “The branch closing down is a big inconvenience for everyone.
“It’s the only bank we have here and having to travel to Hanley just to pop into the bank is a massive pain.”
The Banking Group, which also owns the Bank of Scotland and Halifax, is shutting 49 branches across England after closing 100 others between July and October.
Trevor Hughes, 45, a local website designer said: “Well, running a business from home means I don’t get the chance to get out and about a lot.
“I’ve just come from the bank and it’s so easy at the moment.
“I’ll struggle to find the time every week to travel to the bank but I guess that’s just what we’re going to have to do.”
Employees do not yet know whether they will lose their jobs or be redeployed.
