Alsager Town look to capitalise on AFC Blackpool’s shock defeat

Wayne Brotherton’s side will travel to AFC Blackpool next, on the back of their 2-2 thriller at Sandbach on Wednesday night.

The Bullets’ draw left boss Wayne Brotherton disappointed, as his side let a two-nil lead slip after striker Jordan Erdman, came off with a hamstring injury and is set to miss six weeks of action.

Alsager Town are already without centre-back Warren Holmes with a ruptured ACL, Brotherton has used joint top goal-scorer Oliver Jepson as a replacement at the back and with Erdman now missing their promotion challenge could now be compromised.

AFC Blackpool are looking for a win after their match with Holker Old Boys ended in pandemonium. The last five minutes was manic as they conceded two and went down to ten men late into the second half.

Ben Duffield opened the scoring for The Mechanics but Dave Worthington’s side fell just short of a draw after conceding in the last five minutes as Blackpool imploded.

As the battle for promotion continues 4th place battles 6th  place in the North West Counties League One Division at the Mechanics Ground at 3 o’clock.
