V Festival is over for Staffordshire after 22 years of entertainment

V Festival is due to be rebranded after its main sponsor Virgin withdrew.

Since 1999 it has held its annual twin events in Weston Park, Staffordshire and Hylands Park in Chelmsford.

But after 22 years of entertainment, the future of Staffordshire’s V Festival is unclear.

Richard Branson wrote on Virgin’s website, “We have been proud to sponsor V Festival for the past two decades and there have been some incredible performances on the stage.

“Now, after 22 very enjoyable and successful years, 2017 was Virgin’s last V Festival.”

The event shall be renamed and rebranded and is to be held on the same August weekend but there are now plans to expand it from two days to three days at both sites.

We asked some members of the public what they thought about the changes to the event.

Student Polly Snook who is a regular festival-goer says she will not be attending the rebranded event, she said: “It does make you question why these changes are being made and in the future if this could happen again.”

Another student, Kirsty Avis said: “I am not too sure if I will attend again.

“It depends if the type of artists change as V Festival was my favourite festival because of the acts.”
