Stoke City have been fined £20,000 by the FA for failing to control their players in the 1-0 away victory over Watford last month.
The incident happened in the 94th minute at Vicarage Road when Troy Deeney picked Stoke midfielder Joe Allen up off the ground and appeared to gouge his fingers into the Welshman’s face.
Deeney missed last week’s defeat away at Everton as the first of his three-match ban took place whilst both teams have been charged for the incident for not controlling their players in the aftermath.
Stoke were considering appealing the charge, claiming there were “mitigating circumstances” which could have gone in their favour, but Stoke decided to not go ahead with the appeal, and have been subsequently fined.
Stoke have today refused to comment further about the incident.
Watford have been ordered to pay a fine of £25,000.
The FA statement read: “Watford and Stoke City have been fined 25,000 and £20,000 respectively for failing to ensure that their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in or around the 94th minute of their Premier League fixture on 28 October, 2017.”
