Stoke City captain Ryan Shawcross is relishing the challenge of going up against Jamie Vardy at the Bet365 Stadium this Saturday.
After picking up a vital three points away at Watford last weekend, Shawcross feels his team can now push on and go on a winning run, after an indifferent start to the season.
The Stoke defender was speaking at the club’s annual military match day event outside the Bet365 Stadium.
“It’s going to be a very tough game. They won the league a couple of seasons ago, and had an indifferent season last year, they have got some really good players but with our fans behind us hopefully we can get the three points,” Shawcross said.
Stoke City currently sit in 14th place in the league, while the visitors are 11th, a point above Stoke.
The game could come down to individual star quality between these two sides, and Shawcross feels if they can keep Leicester’s best players quiet, they should come away with the three points.
“He (Vardy) us another big test for us. If we keep him and Mahrez quiet, I am sure we can get a positive result.”
The Stoke City captain also talked up his blossoming partnership with Kurt Zouma, after his man of the match performance last weekend.
“Kurt’s done brilliant this season, and he’s played a lot of games for us.
“It’s a different experience to Chelsea, he probably hasn’t experienced tough losses and conceded 7, but it’s a good test for his character and good for his experience as a footballer.”
“I was a little surprised that Chelsea let him go, especially after their start to the season and I really believe he will become one of the best defenders in the country.”
