Port Vale manager Neil Aspin has revealed playmaker Chris Eagles is back in training with the club.
Eagles was arguably the star of an unsuccessful season for Vale as they were relegated from League One last season, but he left the club after relegation and has remained unattached ever since.
With Vale’s form turning, the addition of the former Manchester United player can only buoy spirits around the camp further.
Eagles has been training with the club for the last two days, and Aspin now says the decision on his future is down to him.
“Chris is a proven player. He’s played at Premier League level, scored plenty of goals in the Football League, so for him it’s different.
“The ball’s in his court if he wants to give himself the opportunity to come in and try and get in the team.
“If he decides he wants to come he’ll be a player I’ll welcome back to the club, but I’m not interested in what he’s done in the past. It’s what he can do now, what he can do for me and the team.”
