Birmingham man charged with burglary offences


Staffordshire Police have charged a Birmingham man with burglary and three attempted burglaries in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, North Staffordshire.

Mohammed Qasim, 19, of York Road, Hall Green, Birmingham was charged with intent to steal at a property in Chester Crescent, Newcastle-Under-Lyme on 11th September 2017.

He was also charged with three counts of attempted burglary with intent to steal at three properties in Main Street, Newcastle-Under-Lyme on 4 October 2017.

Qasim was arrested in Birmingham on 9 November following a warrant executed by Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Police.

Two other men, aged 20 and 31, have been released under investigation.

Detective Sergeant Adrian Webb said: “The arrests are part of Operation Jackal, an initiative to tackle burglaries and, in particular car key burglaries, in Staffordshire. ”

Qasim has been remanded in custody.
