Shoppers in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent are being treated to some Black Friday deals in The Potteries Shopping Centre today with up to 70% off.
Stores including Next, Topshop and H&M were all offering various discounts for their customers.
StaffsLive asked shoppers if they participated on the Black Friday deals.
One shopper said, “I think it’s a good idea.
“I think it is Americanised because that’s where it’s originated from.
“It has come over here and we seem to have all of their traditions.
“It is obviously cheaper for some people and makes it more accessible and people can get more for their money.”
Other shoppers however were quick to express their dislike.
Another shopper said, “I think it’s a bit of a money-making scheme.”
Whilst Black Friday is big in stores, customers can also shop online for their deals.
One shopper said, “I don’t particularly think Black Friday is brilliant. Other days are just as good.
“I tend to look online first to see what the prices are and then maybe come up and buy them.
“It depends on what you want to buy.
“If you want to buy big stuff it will probably be beneficial. If you want toys, all the offers are there for you, there are good deals.”
Black Friday deals will continue over the coming weekend, before Cyber Monday (27th November) offers the best online deals.
