Port Vale manager Neil Aspin is looking for home advantage to be key in their first round FA cup clash with Oxford United.
Vale will be looking to put their less than impressive start to the season behind them after losing 3-0 to Swindon at home last Saturday.
This FA Cup game is a welcome distraction for the hosts whose league form sees them just out of the relegation zone on goal difference in league two.
The home advantage will be a massive plus for Vale as they look to restart their season.
Aspin stresses the importance of an improved performance tonight and knows that Oxford are a very strong side.
He said: “If we play like we did on Saturday we have no chance, that would be true to say. If we played our best like we did in the Exeter game then we will give them a good test.
“My thoughts at the moment are we need to get back to working hard.
“We have to get back to trying to support the striker. We have to have our more creative players doing more on the ball.
“There’s got to be massive improvement for us to have any chance in the game.
“I’ve seen Oxford play and they have good players. They keep the ball well, they pass the ball well and they are definitely better than the level we are playing at.
“If they play to their best then they will be a very difficult proposition for us.”
