Cult TV and film stars return to Staffordshire University for Stoke CON Trent

Cult film and TV stars will be appearing at Staffordshire University at the return of an annual comic convention.

Stoke CON Trent will take place on April 9 at the university’s LRV Venue on College Road, Stoke-on-Trent.

This will be the sixth time the exhibition has taken place.

Joseph Marcell, better known as the butler Geoffrey from hit comedy The Fresh Prince of Bel Air will be making a guest appearance, along with Carla Perez, who played the villain Rita Repulsa in the 1990s Power Rangers TV show.

Stars from shows and movies such as Doctor Who, Star Wars, The Warriors and Games of Thrones are also confirmed.

Lew Temple, who starred in the zombie TV drama The Walking Dead, is set to make an appearance.

He said: “I come to the UK often, but have not been to this part of the Midlands as I understand Staffordshire is know for many wonderful things, including its pottery.

“We don’t get a lot of quiet time to make ceramics on The Walking Dead, but if we did, I am sure my character Axel would be all in.

“I love the fans from the United Kingdom, as they are not only supportive, but well versed.

“I’m looking forward to my appearance, a good fry up, a cuppa, and pint.”

Organiser of Stoke CON Trent Terry Bossons said: “It’s crazy to think this will be our sixth event – it has grown so much since the initial idea.

“Just seeing the look on the people’s faces when they meet their heroes makes it worthwhile.

“I have to admit, I do book the odd person just for me but thankfully every guest has gone down a treat!”
