Stoke’s Phil Taylor beaten by rival Michael Van Gerwen in Rotterdam

Phil Taylor lost 7-4 to rival Michael Van Gerwen, in their latest Premier League of Darts clash in Rotterdam.

Taylor managed an average of just 93.87% .

Michael Van Gerwen recovered from being 3-0 down to beat the 16-time world champion,  in his home country of the Netherlands.

In their last four television meetings Taylor had beaten Van Gerwen in every match, however since then Van Gerwen has been on an incredible 42 match unbeaten streak in live television performances.

Taylor started the game extremely well going 3-0 up, however the green machine came fighting back, taking every leg bar one.

Van Gerwen finished with a 100.5% average and an incredible 77% on the doubles.

Taylor seemed to get distracted by the Dutch contingent in the crowd, by sarcastically clapping and throwing his last three darts at bullseye.

The rest of the night saw Jelle Klaasen and Kim Huybrechts remain at the bottom of the table, with 7-3 losses to James Wade and  Stoke’s Adrian Lewis.

Peter Wright remains at the top of the table, after a convincing 7-4 win against England’s Dave Chisnall, who remains just above the relegation zone.

Fellow Dutchman Raymond Van Barneveld was also part of the two Dutch wins, after beating world number 2 Gary Anderson 7-2, with a match average of 103.71% and an impressive 70% on the doubles.

Week Seven of the Darts Premier League was a night to remember for Van Gerwen and Van Barneveld, who entertained the noisy and boisterous Rotterdam crowd, playing in front of their home fans.
