Man in hospital after cardiac arrest during Stoke City match


A man said to be in his 60s was taken to hospital during the Stoke City match against Everton.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the man had a cardiac arrest around 8.45pm during the game against against Everton at the bet365 stadium on Wednesday, February 1.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “Stoke City club stewards, a club doctor and St John Ambulance were immediately on scene and began CPR as well as delivering two shocks with a defibrillator.

“Ambulance staff then took over and administered advanced life support, successfully managing to restart the man’s heart.”

The man was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
