Argos is closing its store in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.
Up to 26 jobs could be affected.
In a statement an Argos spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Argos in Hanley, will close on the 20th January 2017, due to the ongoing redevelopment of the area.
“After a period of consultation store colleagues will be provided with alternative employment in neighbouring stores.
“Customers can continue to shop at nearby stores or online”
As well as the 26 employees at the store, dozens more who work shifts may be affected.
Customers who rely on the store’s close position to the town centre, will need to travel up to a mile to the nearest store on the Festival Park, Etruria.
The store which has been a fixture in Hanley for more than 30 years and is due to make way for a new shopping complex.
