Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen has missed out on the PFA fans’ Player of the Month for October to Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
The public voted over 61,000 times yesterday and the Welsh international received 14,491 votes as Hazard won the award with 27.262 votes.
He was among six candidates nominated by Sky Sports football experts which also included Theo Walcott, Dele Alli, Callum Wilson and Charlie Austin.
Allen’s £13 million summer move to Stoke has seen him flourish in a more attacking role under Mark Hughes, and was rightly recognised for his impressive performances.
Stoke struggled at the beginning of the season but have won three games in a row now – including a 3-1 win on Monday in which Allen provided two assists to Wilfried Bony.
The Potters are in action again this weekend and will face West Ham at the highly criticised Olympic Stadium.
