The Tamworth Herald has retained its title of ‘Midlands Newspaper of the Year’ for the second year running.
The Herald team successfully reclaimed their title at a special presentation ceremony of the Midlands Media Awards on Thursday, 20th October.
One of the team’s reporters, Nick Reid, also picked up the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award whilst at the event held in the Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
The judges praised the newspaper as “never failing to impress” with its mixture of exclusives, original local journalism and great imagery.
Gary Phelps, editor of the Central Independent News and Media Group said: “I am really proud of the Herald team for successfully defending what is one of the most prestigious titles in British journalism.
“We were up against some of the biggest and best newspapers in England, but it was a combination of the fascinating news generated each week in the Tamworth area and the dedication of our staff that saw us through.”
The annual awards which acknowledge the achievements of the region’s leading journalists, photographers, broadcasters and bloggers attracted more than 200 entries this year.
