Arsonists who targeted horse stables in Stoke-on-Trent blasted by fire chiefs

Arsonists who targeted three separate stables on Berry Hill fields in Stoke-on-Trent have been criticised by Staffordshire fire chiefs.

They described the attacks in Fenton as “reckless”.

The buildings targeted contained feed and bedding for horses that are housed on the 68-hectare nature reserve, next to Fenton cemetery.

One local dog walker, Mark James, from Fenton, who regularly visits the area, was shocked by the attacks.

He said: “It’s nice to see the animals running free, but when you see this devastation, and what fire can do, you sit back and wonder, why are they doing this? Are they bored?

“It’s a good job there was no livestock in there because they would have suffered.”

No animals are believed to have been injured in any of the blazes, which happened just before 10pm last night (April 24).
