Two arrested after man found with head injuries under Stoke-on-Trent railway bridge


A man was found with serious head injuries under a railway bridge in Stoke-on-Trent.

Police have arrested two men on suspicion of assault after the man was found under the bridge on Stoke Road, Shelton.

The victim, believed to be in his 40s, remains in a stable condition at the Royal Stoke Hospital after the alleged attack in the early hours today (April 10).

Two men, aged 29 and 35, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

They remain in police custody and will be questioned later.

Police cordoned off the bridge and closed the road for a few hours to allow forensics to exam the area. It is now open again.

Stoke Road and the bridge was closed for several weeks before Easter to allow for major bridge repairs.
