Singer Florrie performs in Newcastle-under-Lyme

A singer-songwriter signed to Sony Records has praised the audience at Keele University following her latest performance on tour in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Popstar Florrie, who is currently touring UK universities under the Coffee House Sessions group, sang several acoustic songs to the Keele students.

Coffee House Sessions tour 20 artists every year around universities in England and Scotland, setting up daytime performances.

Florrie said: “The crowd here were great.

“At other gigs people tend to spread out and are quite far away but I liked it here because everyone gathered round and really listened to my music.”

The 25-year-old singer from Bristol released her debut single ‘Little White Lies’ under Sony Records in August 2014 which will feature in her debut album early next year.

FlorrieFlorrie, who can play the drums and the guitar, signed with Sony Records at the end of 2013 and has admitted it has been great to finally have a whole team behind her.

She said: “It’s been amazing to work with people who have expertise in this industry and a marketing team, something I’ve never had before.

“I was an independent artist for the last four years, putting all my music online to build up a fan base around the world.

“I then signed with Sony Records at the end of last year so it has stepped up a level.

“It’s an achievement to be signed but I’ve been working towards something beyond that from four years ago anyway.”

Florrie has often used YouTube to display her music, which is mostly pop but also includes her own covers of well-known songs from other artists.
