Police quiz man over armed incident in Tunstall town centre


A 28-year-old man has been arrested after an armed incident in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent.

Police were called after reports that a man was seen carrying a pistol and knives in Tunstall town centre.

Officers worked with Stoke City Council to monitor CCTV cameras to trace the incident last night (April 10).

A man was later arrested in connection with the incident.

Insp Paul Johnson, of Staffordshire Police, said: “At around 7.20pm, armed police detained a male near to Memorial Gardens in Queens Avenue.

“Thankfully incidents like this are rare, however Staffordshire Police regularly train to deal with circumstances like this quickly and safely.”

A 28-year-old man remains in custody while police investigate the incident.
