Whorton-Eales, from Lichfield, had a poor start in Race 1 driving for SV Racing from Cheshire, falling from his fifth place starting point.
“Saturday’s race didn’t go according to plan,” Whorton-Eales told StaffsLive.
“We had a bad start which dropped us down the pack. It was too far ahead for us to catch up by the end of the race.”
He fared better in the second race and changes to the car yielded a fourth place finish.
“Race 2 I had a better start. The SVR boys did a fantastic job and the car was set up perfectly.
“Once on the back of the leaders I was able to challenge for fourth and finish right behind third at the finish line.”
Now Whorton-Eales is targeting a brace of podium finishes at the next round at Donington Park.
“I expect to have a double podium at Donington and be moving up the Championship,” he said.
“It’s something that needs to be done to claw back some of the points on my fellow KX Academy driver Alex Morgan who is currently leading the championship.”
