A Staffordshire charity is urging fundraisers to take part in this year’s fun run and those taking part will be micro-chipped for more accurate times.
The Douglas Macmillan Hospice will be handing out micro-chip ankle straps to all participants at the start and they will be able to register online to find out their times to the second the following day.
This is the eight year the family 5K fun and walk and will take place on the Wedgwood Estate in Barlaston on April 6.
More than 1,000 runners took part last year, raising more than £45,000 for the hospice.
Nicola Hancock, fundraising manager, said: “It will be more competitive, but we always have our fun runners, who may have walked the event last time but want to run it this time.
“There are people from running clubs who want to get certain times for different lengths of running, so they will be looking to beat their personal best.”
Applications have now opened for the event and people can join the race by clicking here.
