Port Vale’s assistant manager Mark Grew said the pressure will be on Crewe Alexandra as the Valiants take on their bitter rivals at home on Saturday, February 22.
Despite a recent lack of goals for the Valiants, Grew said League One strugglers Crewe will be the ones with most to prove at the local derby.
The Alex are in the relegation zone and are 12 points behind Vale.
The Vale Park outfit have 43 points but are aiming for a top eight finish with 52 points by the end of the season.
Grew said: ” We need to be more positive against Crewe on Saturday and get more balls in the box. But the pressure’s on Crewe”.
Captain Doug Loft added: “It’s about getting the balance right between attacking and defending which we can hopefully achieve on Saturday”.
Grew had a stern warning to fans not to cause trouble.
The last time the two clubs met resulted in 13 arrests and Grew told fans they should respect the opposition fans and avoid conflict.
