Bet365 Stoke-on-Trent move backed by city councillors

Stoke-on-Trent gambling firm Bet365 has been given permission to move location to the former Sentinel site.

And the move to the site on Forge Lane, Etruria, will help the firm expand and employ up to 2,800 staff.

Stoke city councillors approved plans submitted by the company to relocate from their original offices in Festival Way.

The application was passed unanimously as all nine councillors voted in favour of the application.

Developments on the new site in Etruria will include a 915 space car park, 102 bicycle spaces and 14 motorcycle spaces.

Bet365 was keen to secure a site which offered dedicated parking, which they did not currently have.

Company bosses looked at a number of sites for a relocation, including the University Quarter, but these were not suitable.

The move is set to take place later in 2014 after the old Sentinel offices are demolished.

Cllr Janine Bridges said: “I’d like to endorse this, I think it’s a fantastic application.

“I’d like to thank Bet365 for showing faith and support in the city.”

Cllr Andy Platt added: “To have a national company confirming their long term future in this city is something to be hugely proud of.”

A spokesman for Bet365 said: “The growth of employees will reach up to 2,800 staff. It’s the biggest employer in the city, and moving to the doorstep of the city centre will give it good viability.”
