Stoke Athletics Club scoops bronze in National Cross Country Relays

Stokes senior athletes stand proudly on the podiumFormer GB star Emma Jackson helped Stoke Athletics Club notch a medal for the first time at the National Cross Country Relay finals.

Jackson teamed up with Kate Holt and Michelle Ross-Cope at the finals at Berry Hill Park in Mansfield.

And the trio beat off stiff competition to complete three 3-km legs to earn a bronze medal.

Jackson has been one of Stoke Athletics Club’s top runners for several years, and won silver medal in the Junior World Games.

She told StaffsLive: “It’s a three times 3km-leg race, although leg one was shorter for some reason so the individual leg time are meaningless.

“It is an event we have done for many years but it’s the first time the club have ever won a medal, so it was very exciting.

“Our first runner was Kate, she came in the 6th place. I ran 2nd leg and brought us in 5th, and then Michelle ran the final leg and took us up to third place!”
