Tamworth manager Dale Belford admitted the FA Cup was a great distraction for his lads but stressed they must return to focus on the Skrill Conference Premier league.
Belford was speaking after his side beat local rivals Solihull Moors 4-1 at home with goals from Richard Peniket, Nick Chadwick (2) and Ben Richards-Everton.
But next Saturday, November 2, Tamworth return to league action as they welcome Braintree to The Lamb as they look to push up the Skrill Conference Premier League table.
Belford said: “It’s a massive for us next Saturday. It’s been great today – a nice little distraction away from the league.
“But the league’s our bread and butter and will have to go into the game with endeavour.
“Hopefully Saturday will produce another three points and will also continue into the next round of the FA Cup.”
Just before half-time Tamworth, known as the Lambs, lost its captain Duane Courtney to a suspected knee injury and had to be replaced by Ben Richards-Everton
Despite the loss of Courtney, the Lambs’ manager said it was job well done for his side.
Belford said: “I am really happy it was a great performance by the lads.
“There was a lot of speculation going on during the week that they were going to come here and turn us over because they are on an unbeaten run.
“But I just kept reminding our lads that there is a big gulf between the Conference Premier and the Conference North.
“We’ve got good players here and if we could match their work rate, which we did, our extra quality should shine through and everyone who was here could see that.”
