Lidice survivors in 70th anniversary visit to Stoke-on-Trent

Three survivors of a World War Two atrocity 70 years ago are visiting Stoke-on-Trent.

The Lidice tragedy in 1942 saw hundreds of families massacred by the Nazis. However, the Czech village was rebuilt five years later after Stoke-on-Trent councillor Barnett Stross enlisted the help of local coal miners who donated a week’s wages to the Lidice Shall Live campaign.
