Last steam narrowboat to represent Staffordshire at Jubilee Pageant

The world’s last surviving steam-powered barge will be representing Staffordshire in the Diamond Jubilee Pageant flotilla.

The 71ft (22m) narrowboat “President” will be making the 336-mile (540km) journey from the Black Country Living Museum to London.

£750,000 grant to help renovate Longton Methodist Church

A church in Longton is to be renovated as part of a £750,000 grant secured by Longton Heritage Partnership.

The 19th Century Central Hall Methodist Church, in the Strand, is undergoing its first serious renovation work to the building since 1940.
