A Staffordshire University student worked with actor Ray Winstone on his new film Jawbone.
Final year BSc (Hons) Film Production Technology student Richie Howle, 21, from Biddulph, got work experience as a runner on the set of the boxing movie after contacting the producer.
He worked on location as the film was shot in Stoke-on-Trent with the cast and crew , which also included Game of Thrones star Ian McShane.
But student Richie almost had a run in with ‘hard man’ Winstone when he made him a drink.
He said: “I made Ray Winstone coffee and the first time he wanted a cafetiere and I made a botched job of it and he took a sip and spat it out.
“He was laughing though, thankfully.
“It was great to meet him and it wasn’t all about the coffee, I was looking after the supporting actors on set as well.”
“It was the best experience I’ve ever had and it made me know that I wanted to be in the industry for sure.
“The work experience and the industry business skills on BSc Hons Film Production Technology course helps you put what you have learned in to practice. I got the job by emailing the producer and it was the best experience I’ve ever had.”
Richie, who is set to graduate this summer, has worked on a few productions as part of a work experience module on the course.
Staffordshire University senior lecturer Fiona Graham said: “Richie is a hard worker and great guy who is determined to be in the industry.
“This is what our courses are about – encouraging students to be confident and to get out in to industry and apply the skills they are developing here to films in the real world.”
Jawbone is due for release on Friday, March 17.
