Kidsgrove Athletic lost 4-1 to Rushall Olympic in the Staffordshire Cup Final at Vale Park.
Three goals for The Pics in 17 first-half minutes saw off Kidsgrove, who had taken an early lead.
Jordan Johnson put them in front, but Rushall hit back through Jack Duggan, Alex Reid and Mitchell Tolley to put them 3-1 up at the half-time break.
A second goal for Reid just minutes after the re-start, killed the contest off.
There was an air of optimism from Kidsgrove in the run up to kick-off, that they could compete against their opponents from a higher league.
And they looked the stronger of the two sides early on.
That optimism seemed well-founded as Johnson’s crisp shot across the goal of Rushall goalkeeper Kieran Preston, nestled in the bottom corner to give Pete Ward’s side an early lead.
The Pics began to find their feet and equalised on 17 minutes when centre-half Jack Duggan rose unchallenged to power a header past on-loan Kidsgrove keeper Harry Pickering, playing at his parent club.
That equaliser seemed to knock the confidence out of Kidsgrove and they found themselves behind on 23 minutes when a neat interchange between Luke Benbow and Tolley allowed Alex Reid to poke home.
Rushall continued to dominate and added a third before the break through Tolley, the goal of the game, as he drove in a right-footed shot from the edge of the area for a 3-1 lead.
Kidsgrove manager Ward would have known an early goal in the second-half would have given his side a chance to get back into the game.
But they shot themselves in the foot just after when Reid got his second of the game from an acute angle to kill off the contest.
Chances for both sides could have added to the score, but by now Rushall were in cruise control and saw out the contest to win the Staffordshire Senior Cup for the second time in three years.
