Late Reading penalty denies Stoke City all three points
By StaffsLive Reporter: A last gasp strike prevented Stoke City opening up the new Premier League season with a win.
The Potters travelled to newly-promoted Reading hoping to get off to a flying start.
The signs were bright when new signing Michael Kightly fired home after 34 minutes.
But just as it looked like Tony Pulis’ side would be heading back with all three points, Dean Whitehead was adjudged to have felled Gareth McLeary in the box in the dying minutes.
The Stoke midfielder saw red after picking up a second yellow for the challenge and Adam Le Fondre stepped up to salvage a point for the Royals.
