Man dies after mobility scooter collides with a bus in Burton
A man has died after his mobility scooter collided with a bus in Burton-on-Trent.
Ambulance crews were called to the accident on Princess Way at around 12.30pm this afternoon (June 23).
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman explained: “Crews arrived to find a man on a disability scooter and a bus that had been in a serious collision.
“The elderly man had suffered multiple serious injuries and received emergency treatment at the scene.
“The man was airlifted to University Hospital North Staffordshire where a trauma team were on standby. The doctor travelled on board the Air Ambulance continuing with emergency treatment en route.
“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance crews at the scene and the trauma team at hospital, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead shortly after arriving at hospital.”
