A car and a lorry were involved in the incident at the junction of Green Lane and Rudyard Road in Horton at 2.45pm this afternoon (June 6).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Despite the best efforts of medical teams at the scene, it became apparent that nothing could be done to save driver of the car, a man, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

I live just near the accident location.
I don’t know who was at fault and it is a terrible tragedy but this has made me quite angry. The reason being that it just doesn’t surprise me!
The manner in which some people drive round here…like absolute lunatics going way too fast for narrow winding country roads.
Every single day my heart is in my mouth at some point during my journey to and from work in Macclesfield.
I am far from a hesitant/slow driver but people flying round corners at 60mph swerving onto the wrong side of the road along with the total idiots dangerously overtaking on Macc Rd are just something else. This is simply getting ridiculous & there never seems to be any police around to see this! Think it would be an idea to set up a few mobile speed traps along that stretch now and again…the police would make a fortune!!!
To those that are in such a hurry…by all means feel free to wrap yourselves round a lamp post…but would it not make more sense to set out 5 minutes earlier, slow down a bit and actually arrive at your destination without endangering the lives of other people!
My thoughts are with the mans family and friends.

Thanks for your thoughts Rachel. Our son was a lovely young man let us hope that the police find out all our answers to the questions we have regarding Alex’ s death. We miss him terribly and we wish that no parent ever has to go through what we are going through now.
