Bright future ahead for Burslem martial arts club

A Burslem club is reaping the benefits of a rise in popularity of mixed martial arts.

The T6 Elite Fight Club has only been open for 18 months but has seen people flocking to join classes in a range of disciplines such as traditional boxing and Thai-boxing.

Mixed martial arts (MMA) is quickly becoming a popular sport in the UK. From humble origins in Brazilian Vale Tudo contests, to the star-studded Ultimate Fighting Championship in America, this once-underground, now burgeoning sport has found its way across the Atlantic.

Daniel Stoddard is a qualified coach and tutors men in skills such as striking, grappling and submission techniques.

He said: “We’re a relatively new club, with relatively new coaches and fighters.

“We’ve already had a few fighters come out of the club and like with anything it’s a learning process.

“We’ve had a few losses, but we’ve just started to have a couple of wins and we’ve got quite a good bunch of guys.”
