Staffordshire student’s cycle challenge for Sport Relief
By Stephen Sharman: A Staffordshire University student cycled over 120 miles in five days to raise money for Sport Relief after being inspired by comedian John Bishop.
Alexander Moody, who studies Policing and Criminal investigation in Stoke-on-Trent, cycled around Staffordshire to raise money for the charity.
His journey began on March 24 and ended onMarch 28 cycling through places such as Burton, Uttoxeter and Leek.
He said: “I’m glad I did it, the weather was good, sunny and a bit too hot at times but in general it was nice.”
Alex took up the challenge after being inspired watching John Bishop’s ‘Week of Hell’ on the television.
Bishop’s challenge involved him running three marathons, rowing the English Channel and cycling 185 miles from Calais to Paris.
He added: “I wanted to do something slightly different for Sport Relief like John Bishop has, just not as ambitious.”
Alex has raised over £600 for his efforts and isn’t planning on attempting anything like this for a while.
He said: “I would like to do something similar in the future but for now it’s time for me to recover.”
