Stoke-on-Trent politics website unveils new look at launch event
By Simon Pattinson: A political website in Stoke-on-Trent has been relaunched.
Pits n Pots hosted an event at the White Star Pub last night (March 28) to unveil the new look.
The site was relaunched with funding from The Journalism Foundation, a scheme that helps promote new forms of journalism around the world.
Mike Rawlins, who runs the site, said: “Right now politics is not as important as it should be. Hopefully we can change that and get more people to engage people in local politics.
“The relaunch of Pits n Pots was a slight change of direction and we just want to try and engage people in local politics.”
Simon Kelner from The Journalism Foundation added: “We hope Pits n Pots will be a template for hyperlocal sites throughout the UK.
“I think the way Pits n Pots increases the engagement of local politics is terrific and we hope more websites will follow that.”
Pits n Pots originally launched in 2008, and has gained national media recognition since.
