Stafford man in court charged with murdering his mother
By Mitch Sayers: A Stafford man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his mother.
Joseph Henry Gray, 23, of Lloyd Street, appeared for a preliminary hearing at Stafford Crown Court charged with the murder of 49-year-old Susan Gray on October 27 last year.
Judge Tonking set a date for the plea verdict on May 8, where a defence statement will be made.
A preliminary date for the trial has been set for August 13 and is set to last for two to three weeks.
Gray has been remanded at a mental care clinic.
The hearing was moved from Cannock Magistrates to Stafford Crown Court earlier today (February 20).
