By Craig Harris: A Stafford man has been found guilty of murdering his live-in friend and hiding the body for two months after a suspected drugs row.
Simon Taylor, 36, of Marston Road, is due to be sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on Friday.
Taylor had denied killing friend Mark Carroll, 35, originally from Rugeley.
Detectives found the body of Mr Carroll at Taylor’s home in March 2011 after he was last seen alive on January 23, the court heard.
Staffordshire Police said Taylor had concealed the body for two months.
Mr Carroll had been sleeping at Taylor’s house for several weeks prior to his murder.
Speaking after the hearing, a Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “Both men were heavy drugs users.
“It appears that Mark was, tragically, killed in a row over drugs.
“Mark’s family are continuing to receive our support at this tremendously difficult time and, hopefully, today’s outcome will come as some comfort to them.”
Mr Carroll’s family had previously made it known that they are “devastated and totally shattered” by his death.
