Cannock nurses give dogs a Christmas treat
By Kelsey Purnell: Nurses at Cannock Hospital have given some festive cheer to a local dog shelter.
Staff on the Fair Oak ward decided not to hand out Christmas cards, putting the money they would have spent towards gifts for the strays at Sunnyside Kennels.
Healthcare support worker Emma Malpass said: “Most of the nurses on the ward have dogs, so the charity is close to our hearts.”
Boxes were filled with blankets, toys, home-made treats and even bottles of wine for the hard-working kennels staff.
Sunnyside manager Karen Doy said: ” Christmas is our busiest time of year and this will help cut down on our overheads.
“We can’t thank Fair Oak staff enough.”
She added: “Over the past few weeks, the number of dogs brought into the kennels has increased substantially and unfortunately people don’t come down to re-home any.”
