Overturned lorry sparks traffic chaos on A50 and A500

By Natalie Clarkson: A lorry overturned on the sliproad from the A50 to the A500, causing traffic chaos for hundreds of commuters.

The accident happened as the lorry drove towards Uttoxeter at about 9.25am today (December 7).

It was on the A50 near Britannia Stadium when it overturned.

There were high winds in the area at the time, but it’s not clear if these were a factor.

It caused extensive tailbacks on both the A50 and A500.

No one was injured, but Highways Agency had to close the road to clear a diesel spill.

It may be closed until 6pm today (December 7).
