By Sean Morris & Rochelle Owusu- Antwi: Shoppers in Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent have been given some early Christmas cheer thanks to a visit from one of the festive season’s unofficial symbols.

Two Coca-Cola lorries dropped in at Tesco stores, handing out free drinks and taking pictures of the public next to the iconic vehicles.

The lorries are travelling the UK as part of the company’s Holidays Are Coming campaign.

Jane Ramos, customer service manager for Tesco in Stafford, said: “We’re very excited by this, there’s only 23 stores in the country that the trucks were going to.

“We’ve been in talks for a couple of months setting it up and it’s been a great turnout.

“We’d love for this to be a yearly event.”

Jackie Wilkin came down with her family to see the Coke lorry at Stafford. She said: “We just heard it was here so we’ve come down to take a look.

“It’s good, and we’re all very excited, you know it’s really Christmas time when you start to see the Coca-Cola lorries.”

In Hanley the lorry was parked in Market Square and met by a crowd of passers by from the afternoon until early evening.

Stoke resident Tracy James had been itching to see it but didn’t finish work until 6.30pm.

“I got a text from my sister saying she’d seen the Coke truck from the advert drive past her down in Stoke,” she said.

“I know it sounds silly but it’s like a bit of a dream come true seeing something that most people grew up only seeing on TV come to life.”
