Events to mark National Adoption Week in Staffordshire
By Abigail Reed & Amy Stubbs: A number of events are taking place across Staffordshire to mark National Adoption Week.
The adoption and fostering recruitment bus will be travelling the county to find potential new parents.
It will arrive in Stafford today (October 31) then travel to Leek Market Square tomorrow where people can find out more information on adoption.
On Wednesday the bus will be in Burton for the day, before heading to Barton-under-Needwood where a balloon launch will take place. The bus will finish its week of touring in Newcastle-under-Lyme where the team will hand out leaflets and tell people how to get involved with adoption.
Lyn Bugarski, the principle manager of the Adoption Service in Stoke-on-Trent, thinks the week is “a really good opportunity to get the message out”.
She added: “There’s a real need for families who will consider adopting slightly older children, particularly when they’re brothers and sisters and they need to be kept together.”
In Stoke-on-Trent, 30 to 40 families are needed each year to adopt children.
